Let me explain in detail.
Over 5,00,000 patients in India suffer from Head and Neck Cancer every year.
Most of these patients undergo surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy as part of their primary care.
They survive the disease but are unable to cope up with the consequences of disease, complications, and treatment.
Surgical defects and side effects of chemoradiation lead to severe disabilities and difficulty in performing essential life activities, such as with chewing, swallowing, speaking and suboptimal social interactions lead to poor quality of life.
Difficulty in mouth opening (trismus), dryness of the mouth (xerostomia), and tooth decay (irradiation caries) are some of the side effects of head and cancer treatment.
These patients are invisible in the population and are constantly seeking treatment for their post-cancer problems.
Head and Neck Cancer Rehabilitation is one of the biggest unmet needs of cancer patients in India and the solution to many of the problems lies with General Dentists.
“Enhance Head and Neck Rehabilitation” is a centre of Excellence for Head and Neck Cancer Rehabilitation and Oncology Dentistry.
Enhance is on a mission to change the landscape of Head and Neck Cancer Rehabilitation in India.
Dr. B.Srinivasan, the Chief Executive and a Maxillofacial Prosthodontist was part of the ‘Call for Action on Rehabilitation 2030’ organized by the WHO in 2017.
He is the Vice President of the International Society for Maxillofacial Rehabilitation and has had a couple of firsts in Maxillofacial Rehabilitation in India.
Enhance is on a mission to leverage digital technology to treat patients remotely. Dr.Srinivasan led the team for the same that got funding from BIRAC, Govt. of India.
