Indian researchers to go for clinical trial of `sepsis drug’ against novel coronavirus

23rd April 2020: The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is leaving no stone unturned in the battle against novel coronavirus. Repurposing of existing drugs is one of the strategies deployed by CSIR. The Council is implementing this strategy by evaluating an existing drug that is used for treating gram-negative sepsis patients.

23rd April 2020: Serum Institute’s recombinant BCG vaccine would be the first vaccine candidate in India to start human trials within the next two weeks. This is to test if the vaccine, administered at birth to Indians to fight tuberculosis, can also boost immunity in adults against the novel coronavirus.

23rd April 2020: Swamped by Covid-19 cure proposals, the ministry of AYUSH notified guidelines for researchers of Indian traditional medicine. The ministry asked researches to follow the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) guidelines and also ensure the presence of an expert in the team.
